The Village
Rimetea is one of the most beautiful villages in Transylvania. This is a place where the sun rises twice: first over the forest at the foot of Piatra Secuiului, then it disappears behind the ridge, only to “rise” a second time. The village lies 24 kilometres from Aiud, at the foot of the Piatra Secuiului peak. With a majority Hungarian population, Rimetea preserves its traditions and still draws large numbers of tourists year after year.
The well-preserved local architecture is iconic: whitewashed houses with green shutters and red geraniums, while Piatra Secuiului is a striking rock massif rising majestically above the village.
